I disappeared... I will come back!

I did it, too. Disappeared! Life is nuts!

Just wanted to give a quick update and will post more when I have a chance.

Turns out a bunch of HVAC systems in our development were not measured correctly and almost everyone building around when we did got units that were too small. This explains some of the inconsistent temperatures, especially upstairs for us. So, SURPRISE! We are getting upgraded bigger units upstairs and downstairs! A bunch of our neighbors got this or some variation and said things run much better now. It's like getting a new house all over again! Well, sort of ;-)

Other than that, things are going smoothly and we continue to love our home! Our development is about to release the last section of lots, all premiums ones (beautiful views of the woods and sunsets!) and then will stop until 2015. We are so amazed by how many homes are being built. Almost all of the lots are sold and building is well on its way! The prices continue to increase and we love being in the green as opposed to the red like we were with our townhome!

If we could do this again we would. What a great adventure it has been. We love our neighbors, who are now our close friends, and our kids love to play all the time outside with their new friends! We are sneaking up on our 10 month (CRAZY!) and need to get moving on what fixes we want. I will post that when we have the whole list together.

Any tips from other 10 monthers out there?

Hope everyone is enjoying their homes and home building!

  1. That's exciting about the new air conditioner! I remember our PM telling us during our walkthrough that "we try and get the air conditioners right at or slightly less than optimal size because it's actually better to have it running constantly rather than have it kicking on/off". I wonder if we'll find out that ours is too small too! Here's for hoping.

  2. I'm glad they have figured out the cause of your HVAC issues and they are fixing it!

Our 10 month is on November 1st... I'll be sure to post all the details. =)

  3. Hi Elise, I have my 10 month on November 4. I intend to add this to the list to be sure it gets checked. Do you have any idea what the correct measurement is suppose to be for these units?

    1. Not completely sure. We are getting paperwork with details soon. I know the one unit in the attic is currently a 1.5 ton and they are replacing it with a 2 ton unit. Whatever that means! I just know it is bigger! Our service guy didn't have the details in front of him. I will let you know once we have details and everything scheduled.

  5. We never knew when we signed that we would end up with just 1 AC unit. RH told us the house is ultra efficent and one works ok. It would reduce our electric bills and be amazing.

No surprise but it does not work that way. Two of the corner bedrooms are never the same temp as the rest of the house.. and we just had the highest electric bill ever for July.
