...is scheduled for next Wednesday the 6th!! SO excited! I can't believe we are at this point! It cameup so quickly.
We decided to get an inspector to take a look at everything. Worth the peace of mind. Plus, we will have no idea what the PM is pointing out and whether it is good or bad or something important!
We were able to get one at an AWESOME price! Did anyone else use an inspector at the pre-drywall meeting? We are also planning to get one before closing. Maybe we are doing too much, but we want this dream to be as perfect as possible with no surprises!
We are also getting ready to put our current house on the market...wish us luck! We are comfortable with renting it out if the numbers don't work, but would be way happier selling it!
Good luck with selling the current house!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting :) The inspector is a great idea, especially if you were able to get one for a good price. I would love to have an inspector at two points, just for a little extra piece of mind, but I haven't looked into it yet. I don't think there is "too much" anything in the home building process (including driving by your site before construction has even began :) - I know I'm not the only one).
ReplyDeleteBest of luck on selling your house! We have to rent ours because we are so far underwater but I am absolutely dreading the prospect (and paying the monthly fee for a property manager).
We wanted an inspector for pre-drywall, but I started calling too late and no one was available. I think the amount of good information you get from the inspector really varies, but we hired one for our pre-settlement anyway. There's a contractor family/friend that I wish could have come, but he's out of state and we couldn't get him here.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! We will be hiring a home inspector as well for the pre-drywall. When is it best to have them come in? At the same time as the pre-drywall meeting with the PM? A week prior to the pre-drywall meeting? Let me know what you decide to do.
ReplyDeleteHope your current house sell fast. The market is getting better. If you stage it properly and price it right for your area...you shouldn't have a problem.
Our PM said to have the inspector come 30-60 minutes before the meeting and then he will go through the meeting with us. We are working on staging now and put in new carpet and new tile in the bathrooms. Crossing our fingers!!
